![]() ![]() Karen may be a bit strange at first, but all around, she only wants the best for Jim and she’s pretty rad. Jim leaves Scranton to work in Stamford and meets Karen. When Jim is finally happy, Pam has to ruin it for him. Turns out, her relationship with Roy didn’t work out (shocker) and she really likes Jim–but, realizes way too late. But, she played him because she wanted the attention. If Pam would have shut him down from the get-go, Jim would have moved on. Sure, he knew that Pam was engaged to Roy, but, Pam also gave him so many mixed signals, it’d make anyone confused. Now, you can’t really blame Jim here (okay, you kind of can). When Jim finally decided to shoot his shot and give her a choice–she turns him down. After they kissed at The Dundies, Pam still strung Jim along, while knowing she had no intention of leaving Roy. Pam knew that Jim was in love with her for more than a while–it was obvious, she knew it, everyone knew it (even Michael). Pam literally toyed with Jim’s emotions and forced him to leave Scranton. She’s engaged to Roy but flirts and uses Jim in the office all day long for her amusement. After Pam gets hella drunk at The Dundies, she leaves and kisses Jim–all the while knowing he has feelings for her and she’s still engaged to someone else. She uses this knowledge to get her cake and eat it too. All along the way, she’s crushing on Jim, who is obviously into her. She passive-aggressively keeps it to herself. Yet, she doesn’t have the balls to stand up and tell Roy she’s unhappy. She’s underwhelmed by their relationship and is constantly comparing it to other people’s in the office and around her. Pam and Roy were engaged when the show began, but show little-to-no interest in getting married to him. Let’s discuss: Pam strings along her fiancé and then cheats on the said fiancé. She messes up her own life, other people’s lives, and she’s just a selfish individual who has no care in the world for anyone else but herself. When you break it down to its core, it’s really Pam Beesly being a poor excuse for a person. It’s an ugly moment that proves Jim is a complete jerk.People romanticize the couple as being “adorable, sweet, and goals,” but, in all reality, they’re pretty crappy people. J im doesn’t make the very short trip to see his family, and when Pam reveals that she couldn’t figure out how to work her phone’s camera, Jim absolutely freaks out and yells at her. ![]() ![]() He asks Pam to film the recital rather than driving the two hours(!) to Scranton to see his daughter. He’s been splitting his time between his home in Scranton and his job in Philadelphia, and one of his “Philly days” falls on the same day as his daughter Cece’s dance recital. In the Season 9 episode “ Customer Loyalty,” Jim’s façade is busted wide open. Trying to keep up the heavily plastered veneer of a nice person is a full-time job, and when Jim finally cracks it’s obvious how ugly he really is on the inside. There are peeks at the real Jim throughout the series, like when he plays basketball and gets super aggressive, and when he won’t stop trying to grab Pam at Dwight’s dojo. But that’s just until things don’t go his way. Throughout The Office, Jim is presented as an ideologically perfect boyfriend who can anticipate Pam’s every want and need while keeping a boyish smirk on his face. If you need convincing, keep reading to find out why Jim from The Office sucks. But the show made its hero Jim Halpert, who was straight up scum. It proved that a sitcom didn’t have to follow the same structure that had been run into the ground, it played with pathos as much as humor, and it put normal looking people onscreen. Not at all – The Office was such an important show for young comedy fans. But just in case you’re on the fence, consider this irrefutable evidence that Jim is a horrible man.īefore you get too worked up, this isn't to say the show is bad. It’s already heavily suggested that Jim cheated on Pam, and if you were watching NBC in the mid-2000s then you know that Ben Wyatt was a much better husband than Jim could ever be. To put it simply, Jim Halpert is a scumbag. ![]() He’s a headset-wearing douchebag who manipulates everyone around him. He’s that guy who has to have an ironic detachment from everything he likes to protect himself from his feelings. The resident heartthrob of The Office may be presented as the coolest guy in Scranton who gets the girl and becomes successful without trying very hard, but he’s your college boyfriend. ![]()
